Caribes de Anzoátegui’s offense did not have the expected start, in fact, they have the lowest collective average, barely batting .201. But, even in the midst of this slump, Luis Sardiñas managed to celebrate his 300th hit.
The connection was a double against Oddanier Mosqueda, in the ninth inning of Thursday’s 5-4 victory over Tiburones de La Guaira at «Chico» Carrasquel in Puerto La Cruz.

Sardiñas’ 300 hits, playing his tenth season in Venezuela, are divided into 218 singles, 58 doubles, eight triples, and 16 home runs.
183 of those 300 connections were obtained wearing the Caribes de Anzoátegui uniform (in six competitions), the rest with Tiburones de La Guaira (4). In the blink of an eye, he could become the 17th player to score two hundred hits with the Tribe.
